DTU Series

We're your headquarters for any drilling tools and service needs.

Our Drag-Type Underreamer (DTU) series from CSS Drilling Tools offer a revolutionary reverse actuation mechanism that ensures and maintains full tool opening while the drill string weight prohibits tool closure in a direct ratio of 1:1. A large piston area provides the hydraulic horsepower, which also functions to maintain full tool opening. If you’re looking for DTU series tools, CSS Drilling Tools has what you need. How Drag-Type Underreamers Work

The patented one of the DTU series is specifically designed for this type of application. The rolling radius of these cones is consistent with underreaming diameters downhole, resulting in a longer seal and bearing life. Another patented design aspect of the DTU series is its internal cage, which doubles seal life and significantly reduces bearing wear. As the cone completes one revolution, the cage only rotates one half-turn. This increases both the lives of the seals and the bearings, allowing for longer downhole times and a reduced number of trips.

Adjustable to Any Size

One of the best features of the DTU series is the fact that it is adjustable to any size within its range and in as little as 10-15 minutes without changing any internal parts.

Additional Benefits of the DTU Series

The DTU design has made it one of the strongest, most trouble-free, and most economically-friendly underreamers on the market. The DTU has an integral subjet near the bottom that enables cone washing via three or six replaceable jets. This effective and thorough washing means:
